We're very happy, because his teachers say they've noticed a change of attitude
in Nicolás. Now he shows more interest in discussion in class, he's more
willing to work in groups, he asks more questions, and they said "it appears
that he's coming out of the bubble he seemed to live in before."

Before doing the program I was a person with a lot of problems. For example, I'd break out in a cold sweat if I had to read. I lacked self confidence. Laura Zink de Diaz is our licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction® facilitator. Laura has extensive background in teaching. She established Prolinguistica in l990 under the name CBTT, Inc. Prolinguistica’s original mission was to bring the best instructional methods to teachers, whether their focus was on foreign language, ESL, or teaching grade level content to English language learners. Prolinguistica continues to provide high quality staff development for teachers in matters relating to language acquisition. Laura has taught English as a Foreign Language in South America, as well as Spanish, French, Russian and writing in US schools. More recently Laura served as director of Migrant Education and State Transitional Bilingual programs for the Mount Vernon School District in Washington, |
where she focused on instructional reform. Shortly before leaving that position to further develop Prolinguistica, Laura was named the Washington State Migrant Education Program Administrator of the Year for 2001- 2002 for her work to improve the opportunities for migrant students in her school district. In addition to her work as a Davis facilitator, Laura publishes two e-newsletters in English, Singular Minds, dealing with learning, and E-Comp!, focusing on language instruction. She has also recently become editor of the multiligual magazine, The Dyslexic Reader, published by Davis Dyslexia Association International (DDAI®).
Over
the last 20 years, in addition to teaching and her administrative work Laura
has also presented and sponsored numerous workshops for teachers in Washington
and around the country on highly effective language teaching strategies, integrating
technology into language instruction, and Total Quality Education. She is the
author of a number of books for language teachers, including The
Talking T-Shirt and Other Writing Projects for FL and ESL Students and What Can I
Leave for My Sub? Quick and Easy Activities for your Substitute Teacher.
Today Laura has expanded Prolinguistica’s mission to include dyslexia
correction, a subject which has long fascinated her. As a licensed Davis facilitator
she is qualified to provide correction programs for a variety of symptoms related
to dyslexia, including reading, mathematics, ADD, and handwriting.
