... We're very happy, because his teachers say they've noticed a change of attitude in Nicolás. Now he shows more interest in discussion in class, he's more willing to work in groups, he asks more questions, and they said "it appears that he's coming out of the bubble he seemed to live in before."
... We gave the teachers lots of information about the method, because they were very curious about it. We also gave them a copy of the summary that you left with us, and we told the principal some of the details about the work Nico is doing at home... Our Licensed Facilitator and Founder

Laura Zink de Diaz is our licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction® facilitator. Laura has extensive background in teaching. She established Prolinguistica in l990 under the name CBTT, Inc. Prolinguistica’s original mission was to bring the best instructional methods to teachers, whether their focus was on foreign language, ESL, or teaching grade level content to English language learners. Prolinguistica continues to provide high quality staff development for teachers in matters relating to language acquisition. Laura has taught English as a Foreign Language in South America, as well as Spanish, French, Russian and writing in US schools. More recently Laura served as director of Migrant Education and State Transitional Bilingual programs for the Mount Vernon School District in Washington,

where she focused on instructional reform. Shortly before leaving that position to further develop Prolinguistica, Laura was named the Washington State Migrant Education Program Administrator of the Year for 2001- 2002 for her work to improve the opportunities for migrant students in her school district. In addition to her work as a Davis facilitator, Laura publishes two e-newsletters in English, Singular Minds, dealing with learning, and E-Comp!, focusing on language instruction. She has also recently become editor of the multiligual magazine, The Dyslexic Reader, published by Davis Dyslexia Association International (DDAI®).

Over the last 20 years, in addition to teaching and her administrative work Laura has also presented and sponsored numerous workshops for teachers in Washington and around the country on highly effective language teaching strategies, integrating technology into language instruction, and Total Quality Education. She is the author of a number of books for language teachers, including The Talking T-Shirt and Other Writing Projects for FL and ESL Students and What Can I Leave for My Sub? Quick and Easy Activities for your Substitute Teacher.

Today Laura has expanded Prolinguistica’s mission to include dyslexia correction, a subject which has long fascinated her. As a licensed Davis facilitator she is qualified to provide correction programs for a variety of symptoms related to dyslexia, including reading, mathematics, ADD, and handwriting.

Here are some of her comments about her philosophy as an educator and facilitator:

Dyslexia correction is a life altering experience – even for the facilitator! After a lifetime hearing that they are slow, or lazy, or need to just buckle down and concentrate, dyslexics can suffer from low self esteem. Just 30 hours with a facilitator can lead those gifted with dyslexia to a new understanding of who they are, where their strengths and weaknesses lie; to the realization that they have wonderful talents -- and that once they learn to unleash those gifts, they can learn whatever they set their formidable minds to! My goal as a public school teacher was to empower my students to learn other languages – students who usually came to me convinced that such skills were beyond them. Through the Davis Dyslexia Correction® process, my mission has become to empower my clients to master a wide range of skills they soon discover are very much within their grasp!. Dyslexia correction is a wonderful voyage of discovery that I, as facilitator, find incredibly fulfilling. There’s simply nothing like watching people blossom and become more than they ever thought they could be, in the course of just five days! 	Professional services described as Davis®, Davis Dyslexia Correction®, Davis Symbol Mastery®, Davis Orientation Counseling®, Davis Math Mastery® and Davis Learning Strategies® may only be provided by persons who are employed by a licensed Davis Specialist or who are trained and licensed as Davis Facilitators by Davis Dyslexia Association International.
	The Davis Dyslexia Correction program, Prolinguistica Support Group and Prolinguistica Tutoring program are separate and distinct programs which are provided in their own distinct contexts on separate schedules.
